Game Appeals

How to report suspected foul play and what to expect

Overview

Understanding the appeal process

If you believe your opponent cheated or engaged in unfair play during a game, you can submit an appeal for our admin team to review. We take all reports seriously and investigate each case thoroughly to maintain a fair playing environment.

Important: Appeals can only be submitted for completed games that you participated in. You may only submit one appeal per game.

Valid Appeal Reasons

Types of issues you can report

High Priority
Cheating / Engine Use

When you suspect your opponent used a chess engine or received external assistance:

  • Consistently perfect or near-perfect moves
  • Finding difficult tactical shots instantly
  • Playing moves that only engines would find
  • Unusual accuracy compared to their rating

Requirement: You must select at least 3 suspicious moves when reporting cheating.

Time Abuse

When your opponent manipulated the clock unfairly:

  • Intentionally stalling when clearly losing
  • Exploiting premove systems
  • Disconnecting to waste time

Inappropriate Behavior

When your opponent violated our community standards:

  • Offensive language or harassment in chat
  • Threatening behavior
  • Inappropriate username or avatar

Technical Issues

When you experienced technical problems that affected the game:

  • Connection manipulation or exploitation
  • Bug exploitation
  • System errors that unfairly affected the result

Unfair Advantage

Other forms of unfair play such as account sharing, sandbagging (deliberately losing to lower rating), or colluding with other players.

Review Process

What happens after you submit an appeal

Step 1

Confirmation

You receive a ticket number confirming your appeal was submitted. Keep this for your records.

Step 2

Initial Review

Our admin team reviews the appeal and gathers relevant data including move analysis and behavioral patterns.

Step 3

Investigation

We analyze the game using our anti-cheating tools, review the reported moves, and examine the player's history.

Step 4

Decision

You will be notified of the outcome. If cheating is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken against the offending account.

Timeline: Most appeals are reviewed within 24-72 hours. Complex cases may take longer to ensure a thorough investigation.

Possible Outcomes

What actions may be taken

Appeal Upheld

If we find evidence of foul play, the offending player may receive warnings, temporary bans, or permanent account termination depending on the severity. Rating adjustments may be made where appropriate.

Appeal Dismissed

If we find insufficient evidence of wrongdoing, the appeal will be dismissed. This does not mean the report was invalid - sometimes players simply perform above their usual level, or situations have innocent explanations.

Inconclusive

Some cases do not have clear evidence either way. The player may be flagged for closer monitoring in future games.

Important: False Appeals

Please read carefully before submitting

Submitting false or frivolous appeals is a serious offense.

We understand that losing can be frustrating, especially in close games or when real money is involved. However, submitting appeals without genuine belief of wrongdoing wastes admin resources and can harm innocent players.

Consequences of False Appeals

  • Warning for first offense
  • Temporary restriction from submitting appeals
  • Permanent restriction for repeat offenders
  • In severe cases, account suspension

What is NOT a Valid Appeal

  • Disagreeing with the game result
  • Your opponent played better than expected
  • You lost on time or made blunders
  • Your opponent found a winning tactic you missed
  • Bad luck or unfortunate circumstances

Appeal Restrictions

Limitations on the appeal system

  • One appeal per game: You can only submit one appeal per game. Make sure to include all relevant information in your initial submission.

  • Completed games only: You cannot appeal games that are still in progress.

  • Participants only: Only players who participated in the game can submit appeals.

  • Account restrictions: Users who abuse the appeal system may be temporarily or permanently restricted from submitting appeals.
