Understanding the appeal process
If you believe your opponent cheated or engaged in unfair play during a game, you can submit an appeal for our admin team to review. We take all reports seriously and investigate each case thoroughly to maintain a fair playing environment.
Important: Appeals can only be submitted for completed games that you participated in. You may only submit one appeal per game.
Types of issues you can report
When you suspect your opponent used a chess engine or received external assistance:
Requirement: You must select at least 3 suspicious moves when reporting cheating.
When your opponent manipulated the clock unfairly:
When your opponent violated our community standards:
When you experienced technical problems that affected the game:
Other forms of unfair play such as account sharing, sandbagging (deliberately losing to lower rating), or colluding with other players.
Step-by-step guide to filing an appeal
Navigate to the analysis page of the completed game you want to appeal.
In the Tools section, click on "Report Issue" to expand the appeal form.
Choose the category that best describes the issue from the dropdown.
If reporting cheating, select at least 3 moves you found suspicious. You can click the arrow icon to view each position on the board.
Write a detailed explanation (at least 50 characters) describing why you believe the game was unfair. Include specific examples and observations.
Check the box confirming your appeal is honest, then click "Submit Appeal". You will receive a ticket number for tracking.
What happens after you submit an appeal
You receive a ticket number confirming your appeal was submitted. Keep this for your records.
Our admin team reviews the appeal and gathers relevant data including move analysis and behavioral patterns.
We analyze the game using our anti-cheating tools, review the reported moves, and examine the player's history.
You will be notified of the outcome. If cheating is confirmed, appropriate action will be taken against the offending account.
Timeline: Most appeals are reviewed within 24-72 hours. Complex cases may take longer to ensure a thorough investigation.
What actions may be taken
If we find evidence of foul play, the offending player may receive warnings, temporary bans, or permanent account termination depending on the severity. Rating adjustments may be made where appropriate.
If we find insufficient evidence of wrongdoing, the appeal will be dismissed. This does not mean the report was invalid - sometimes players simply perform above their usual level, or situations have innocent explanations.
Some cases do not have clear evidence either way. The player may be flagged for closer monitoring in future games.
Please read carefully before submitting
Submitting false or frivolous appeals is a serious offense.
We understand that losing can be frustrating, especially in close games or when real money is involved. However, submitting appeals without genuine belief of wrongdoing wastes admin resources and can harm innocent players.
